Water attorney Oliver Skelly has joined Somach Simmons & Dunn’s Colorado office where he will work with clients on water rights, water quality and Western water law. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado Law School and Colorado College.

Before joining the firm, Oliver clerked for the 22^nd Judicial District of the State of Colorado, learning the ins and outs of litigation at the trial court level. Prior to that he was a Natural Resources and Environment Section Intern for the Colorado Attorney General’s Office. During law school, he spent several stints clerking for Somach Simmons & Dunn as well as several other water law firms, agencies, and nonprofits. He also headed up the Environmental Law Journal and Acequia Assistance Project.

Oliver Skelly’s connection to Colorado’s rivers and landscapes runs deep. Raised in Texas but spending his formative years in the American West, he spent time as a Class III-V raft guide, leading multi-day expeditions on rivers from the frigid snowmelt of the Arkansas to the tropically-warm Pacuare. Oliver spends much of his free time riding bikes and coaching his beloved high school mountain biking team.
