Somach Simmons & Dunn Adds Three Associates to its Water and Environmental Law Team

Somach Simmons & Dunn welcomes three talented associates to the firm’s Sacramento and Boulder offices. Kendra Hartmann, Kelly Doyle, and Max Bricker will provide experience and strength for key client cases and support matters ranging from environmental and water rights litigation to land use and water quality permitting.

“We are thrilled to have Kendra, Kelly, and Max join us this year,” said Theresa Barfield, managing shareholder. “Our firm continues to evolve in ways that support our next generation of leaders and allow their practices to grow and thrive. We are pleased to elevate our client service teams with these skilled attorneys.”

Kendra Hartmann, California Office

As an environmental journalist-turned-lawyer, Kendra understands the power of language and communication in advancing complex water law projects. She brings more than three years of law firm experience focused on environmental review of projects impacting land use, hydrology, endangered species, air quality, hazardous substances, and other issues covered by state and federal law, including the California Environmental Quality Act. Kendra enjoys hiking, running, skiing, spending time in nature, and catering to her dog, Beefy. She has completed three full marathons and four half marathons.

Kelly Doyle, California Office

Kelly gained litigation experience as a staff attorney with the Children’s Law Center of California, where she navigated myriad stakeholders inside and outside the courtroom in protecting the interests of foster care children. Prior experience as a legislative affairs team coordinator for a local lobbying firm and an internship in the Yolo County Public Defender’s Office bring added perspective on client projects. Kelly enjoys audiobooks, live music, board game nights, and riding her pink bike around downtown Sacramento.

Max Bricker, Colorado Office

Before practicing water law, Max co-managed farming operations for his family’s 33-acre walnut orchard near Visalia, California. That real-world work experience shapes his understanding of the water supply challenges clients face amid ongoing drought conditions. In his free time, Max enjoys playing and watching sports, finding the best places to eat, and traveling domestically and internationally with friends and family.
