We are pleased to announce that Brittany Johnson and Jared Mueller have been promoted to shareholder status within our firm, effective January 1. These colleagues embody Somach Simmons & Dunn’s deep commitment to water and environmental law excellence, established by our founding shareholders.
“I am pleased to welcome Jared and Brittany to our partnership. They represent a talented pool of next-generation leaders who will lay the foundation for a strong future of service excellence. We are honored to have grown into one of the largest boutique water law firms in the West, thanks to our committed clients and colleagues.”
~ Tess Dunham, Managing Shareholder
Brittany works closely with our water quality and water litigation clients in California, Texas, and Arizona. Well-versed in litigating disputes that arise from the management and implementation of water rights, Brittany also provides general legal advice on public agency matters, renewing water quality permits, and helping to maintain permit compliance. She is a key member of our team representing the state of Texas in Original Action No. 141 before the United States Supreme Court regarding interpretation and enforcement of the Rio Grande Compact. Brittany and her husband recently welcomed their first child.
A career litigator, Jared represents public entities and businesses, from counties and irrigation districts to farmers and other water users. However, his litigation background spans cases involving constitutional law, personal injury, medical malpractice, construction defects, employment, and various business-related disputes. Jared is one of the firm’s go-to problem solvers around the Endangered Species Act. As the father of young children, he spends most of his time outside of work focused on family, but he continues to look for rare occasions to take off to a beach with his wife or hit the slopes with his friends.
