Oliver Skelly is an attorney in Somach Simmons & Dunn’s Colorado office, where his practice focuses on water rights, water quality, and Western water law.

Before joining the firm as an attorney, Oliver clerked for the 22nd Judicial District of the State of Colorado, learning the ins and outs of litigation at the trial court level. Prior to that, he was a Natural Resources and Environment Section Intern for the Colorado Attorney General’s Office. During law school, he spent several stints clerking for Somach Simmons & Dunn as well as several other water law firms, agencies, and nonprofits. He also headed up the Environmental Law Journal and Acequia Assistance Project.

Oliver’s connection to Colorado’s rivers and landscapes runs deep. Raised in Texas but spending his formative years in the American West, he could not resist a couple of years vagabonding as a Class III-V raft guide, leading multi-day expeditions on rivers from the frigid snowmelt of the Arkansas to the tropically warm Pacuare. When the rivers run dry, Oliver spends much of his free time riding bikes and coaching his beloved high school MTB team (aka “the groms”) onto glory.
